The Position:

 

The Programme Assistant (Sexual and Reproductive Health and Gender Based Violence) position is located in UNFPA North Macedonia Country Office. Under the direct guidance and supervision of the SRH Program Analysts, the Programme Assistant assists in implementation of the UNFPA Country Programme in North Macedonia. The Programme Assistant is a part of a team, which provides integrated programme and operational support within systems strengthening approach fundamental to UNFPA’s overall strategy. The Programme Assistant provides programme, administrative and logistical support to the programme and operations team in the implementation of the Country Programme Document 2021 – 2025.

Job Purpose:

 

You will be part of the team of the Country Office in North Macedonia and will provide continuous support in the implementation of the programme priorities on sexual and reproductive health and gender based violence. You will play an instrumental role in supporting the management and coordination of the planned activities. You will apply the existing systems and procedures in order to ensure achieving the goals. 

 

You would be responsible for: 

  • Providing programmatic and administrative support in the formulation and implementation of the Sexual and Reproductive Health and Gender Based Violence country programme components and component projects; 
  • Contributing to the preparation of programme and financial reports by collecting information, preparing tables, drafting selected sections of the report etc.
  • Assists with programmes related procurement of services/goods and ensures that procurement is in accordance with UNFPA Procurement Procedures; 
  • Compiles relevant background materials and prepares briefs and summaries if requested. 
  • Supporting the evaluation of project and programme activities, supporting assessments processes and organizing field visits; participating in review meetings and supporting evaluation missions and preparing regular updates.
  • Supporting the administrative and financial implementation of assigned projects, in coordination with national counterparts and project personnel, keeping track of delivery of project inputs; and providing logistical and administrative support in the participation of national counterparts in training activities and study tours.
  • Arranges programmes meetings, including Ensures quality and completeness of filing of programmes documents.
  • Providing administrative support to programs/projects helping organize meetings, workshops and events; organizing the venue, preparing draft minutes of programmes meetings, communicating draft minutes to the participants and receiving feedback.
  • Assists in the archiving, filing, and maintenance of up to date electronic mailing lists on programme and technical matters. 
  • Undertakes all logistical, administrative and financial arrangements required for the successful planning and delivery of technical workshops, inter-agency meetings, panel discussions, roundtables, missions, and other events organized by the program leads in close collaboration with the operations team. 
  • Assisting project personnel and staff on national execution and programme policies and procedures as needed.
  • Supporting advocacy and resource mobilization efforts of the CO, by preparing a database of donor and public information contacts. Assisting with organizing and conducting donor meetings and public information events, including compiling relevant background material for these events.
  • Supporting the coordination and implementation of knowledge management strategies and activities.
  • In coordination with designated UNFPA North Macedonia Country Office’s Monitoring and Evaluation focal point collecting and processing information relevant to programmes monitoring and evaluation and programmes indicators. 
  • Translating and drafting letters and other programmes documents as well as provides translation, as may be assigned by country office management;  
  • Providing other administrative support to programme staff

Qualifications and Experience: 

 

Education:  

 

Completed secondary level education required. First level university degree desirable.

 

Knowledge and Experience: 

  • Five years of previous in professional experience in programme/ project administration and/ormanagement;
  • Strong interpersonal and organisational skills; 
  • Computer literacy, including Microsoft Office programmes; 
  • Experience in using corporate programme & financial management software (e.g.  Atlas/PeopleSoft, other EPR and / or G Suite is an asset);  
  • Experience with international organizations (UN, development agencies, international NGOs or other), particularly in areas relevant for UNFPA mandate will be considered an asset

 

Languages: 

 

Language proficiency in both written and oral English and Macedonian. Knowledge of other local languages shall be considered an asset.

Job Purpose:

 

Working within the Country Office (CO) environment, you will support the effective management of UNFPA activities in the areas of population and development, and data on sexual and reproductive health, youth, ageing and gender. Through analysis and assessment of political, social and economic trends, you will contribute to project formulation and evaluation, joint programming initiatives and national development frameworks.

 

You will assist in monitoring results achieved during implementation with programme/project implementation by using and developing appropriate mechanisms and systems and ensuring compliance with established procedures, as well as by monitoring results achieved during implementation. The Programme Analyst will maintain collaborative relationships within UNFPA, at all levels, as well as with partners, such as UN agencies in the country; national partners, including government agencies, international CSOs, experts, academia, private sector, professional associations, etc.; donors, etc. 

 

  • Participating in the formulation of the country programme and component projects, by compiling and analyzing information relevant to the UNFPA’s role in the country, drafting project documents and work plans; and preparing tables and statistical data. 
  • Evaluating project and programme activities, establishing and implementing mechanisms  to systematically assess achievement of results; recommending corrective action, as required and following up on recommendations;; conducting field visits; participating in review meetings and evaluation missions and preparing regular inputs to status and progress reports. 
  • Analyzing and interpreting the political, social and economic environment relevant to UNFPA activities and population and development and identifying opportunities for UNFPA assistance and intervention.
  • Helping the country office to create and document knowledge by synthesizing findings and lessons learned, success stories and best practices, strategies and approaches, about current and emerging trends in the country environment with regard to population dynamics and data issues.

  • Establishing collaborative relationships with executing agencies, experts, government counterparts and other UN agencies to facilitate timely and efficient delivery of project inputs.
  • Leading the implementation of the UNFPA component on Big Data within a joint project addressing Migration in the country, and regular coordination with a team of national technical experts and international partners, as well as other UN agencies in the country.
  • Coordinating and contributing to regional-level interventions in the field of population and development, in close cooperation with senior UNFPA advisors / experts.
  • Assisting in advocacy and resource mobilisation efforts of the CO, by establishing and maintaining a network of donor and public information contacts. Assisting with organising and conducting of donor meetings and public information events, including preparing relevant background material for these events.

 

Qualifications and Experience 

 

Education:  

 

Bachelor University Degree in economics, business administration, demography, population studies, statistics, social science and/or other related social science disciplines.

 

Knowledge and Experience: 

  • Up to two years professional experience in the field of development and population activities, such as census, statistics, migration, etc.
  • Experience in programme/ project management is desirable.
  • Practical experience in design, monitoring and evaluation of development programs/projects.
  • Experience using office software packages (such as i.e. SPSS and Stata) and web-based management systems.

 

Languages:

  • Assessing implications of new policy developments and strategies on programme execution, and ensuring their integration.

  • Act as an active member of the UNCT Gender Theme Group to advocate for issues within the UNFPA mandate, develop strategic partnerships with UN agencies in order to enhance UN coordination, and strengthen the overall UN agencies’ performance on gender equality by mainstreaming gender into all key policies and programmes;
  • Develops strategic partnerships, maintains networks and close linkages with relevant government stakeholders, international organizations, donors, key policy makers, women and youth organizations, educators, donor community, research institutions.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the UNFPA Country Director and Head of Office.

 

 

Qualifications and Experience: 

 

Education:  

 

Advanced university degree in Gender Studies, International Development or related Social Sciences, with good technical knowledge of gender issues and human rights. A first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.

Job Purpose:

The Communications and Resource Mobilization Officer is responsible for convening the design, planning, execution, and monitoring of communication and resource mobilization strategies to promote and support UNFPA’s mission in the country. He/she supports the management of a network of partners and alliances to support the UNFPA programme, and employs resource mobilization tools to support the fundraising efforts of the Country Office. The Officer is a member of relevant working groups and fora within the UN system.  

The Communications and Resource Mobilization Officer will lead the Country Office

communications team towards increased visibility and brand recognition among the national stakeholders, civil society, professional associations and the donor community, using social media channels, traditional communication channels/tools and networking. The Programme Analyst will maintain collaborative relationships within UNFPA, at all levels, as well as with partners, such as UN agencies in the country; national partners, including government agencies, international CSOs, experts, academia, private sector, professional associations, etc.; donors, etc. 

 

You would be responsible for: 

 

General activities

  • In collaboration with UNFPA Regional Office as well as Headquarters, Government counterparts, NGOs and other partners, contributing to the design and implementation of the country programme and its component projects, aligning with Government priorities and UNFPA programme policies and procedures. 
  • Establishing collaborative relationships with executing agencies, experts, government counterparts and other UN agencies to facilitate timely and efficient delivery of project inputs.
  • Performing “Buyer” profile functions in the corporate programme and financial management software (Atlas).
  • Carrying out other duties and responsibilities as may be required, in consultation / guidance by the management.

Communications: 

  • Supporting the development of a communications and advocacy strategy to position issues pertaining to UNFPA’s mandate into the public domain addressing gaps in communication and strengthen political will in support to the achievement of 2030 Agenda and UNFPA transformative results; 
  • Developing and implementing a work plan for communication activities, monitoring compliance and providing support and guidance to ensure objectives are met. Assisting in drafting and editing articles, press releases, human interest stories, social media content and other advocacy/information materials. Planning and monitoring the use of communication budgetary resources;
  • Collaborating with other offices of the region in implementing the communication strategies and monitoring relevant communications touching on and affecting the work of the organization;
  • Providing analysis and communications guidance to the Country Office through scanning and reporting of political, social and economic environment relevant to UNFPA activities; 
  • Maintaining close collaboration with media through various activities, including, but not limited to visits to project sites, facilitating photo coverage and TV footage, and utilizing both traditional and new media when appropriate to generate and maintain public interest in issues pertaining to UNFPA’s mandate, and tell the story of UNFPA’s cooperation to a wider audience;
  • Supporting the development of partnerships with individuals, groups, organizations and institutions whose support is essential to the achievement of advocacy and communication objectives, and strengthening their capacity through appropriate advocacy and communication training and access to updated information;
  • Maintaining UNFPA Country Office website and social media presence; 
  • Participating in, and supporting the work of the UN Communications Group in the country and other internal regional and/or global  working groups and initiatives;  
  • Assisting the Regional Office and HQ in identifying and obtaining feature stories and other material to facilitate global/regional advocacy and fund-raising activities;

Resource mobilization: 

  • Analyzing and interpreting the donor and partner environment relevant to sexual and reproductive health, gender based violence, population and development and humanitarian assistance, and identifying opportunities for UNFPA assistance and intervention. Keeping abreast of new policy developments and strategies analyzing policy papers, donor strategy documents, national plans, development frameworks and funding opportunities, and preparing briefs and inputs for partner and donor dialogue.
  • Contributing to the effective implementation of Country Office’s Resource Mobilization and Strategic Partnerships Strategy by i) identifying opportunities for UNFPA’s strategic engagement with donors and partners; and (iii) developing outreach efforts to the donors and partners.
  • Ensuring UNFPA’s due-diligence screening process on all stakeholders and ensuring UNFPA is in line with exclusionary criteria and other policies issued by the UN Secretariat for due diligence. 
  • Managing partnerships with the stakeholders to achieve excellence in relationships keeping, management of the partnerships, and feedback in order to ensure increase in the number of partners and in the quality of partnerships, loyalty of partners and visibility of partnerships.
  • Consolidating awareness among UNFPA staff at CO for strengthening capacity to develop and manage effective partnerships and donor relations.
  • Assisting advocacy efforts of CO by preparing relevant documentation, i.e. project summaries, conference papers, speeches, donor profiles, and participating in donor meetings and public information events and collaborating/coordinating efforts closely on such related fields as communication, media outreach and advocacy.

ROUTE WB6 project is implemented across the Western Balkans 6 by a consortium led by Regional Youth Cooperation Office (RYCO) in association with the following organizations from WB6 – Beyond Barriers, South East European Youth Network, Institute for Youth Development KULT, Lens, Youth Cultural Center Bitola, Association for Democratic Prosperity Zid and Young Researchers of Serbia. The overall objective of ROUTE WB6 project is to make young people from WB region drivers of reconciliation and societal reconstruction, enabling them to apply European values, initiate and lead intercultural dialogue and regional cooperation towards socio-economic and democratic development. The project activities have started on 1 January 2019 and will end in December 2021. 

Through the Regional Cross Border Volunteer Program you have the unique opportunity to become a volunteer for the Anibar Animation Festival, which will be held in Peja, Kosovo*, from 23 – 30 July. 

Anibar Animation Festival is the only animation festival and one of the biggest cultural events in Kosovo*. Anibar screens animated films coming from different places around the world. Except for the screening of the films during the festival, Anibar organizes workshops, lectures, debates, presentations, special programs, and additional daily activities. Call for participants for a youth exchange “Through the lens of reality ” in Sinaia, Prahova County, Romania.
DATES: 11th August – 18th August, 2021.
VENUE: Sinaia, Prahova County, Romania.
PARTICIPANTS: 4 participants (18 – 27 years) + group leader (18+ years).
About the project:
“Through the Lens of Reality” project aims to teach participants to question and analyze online information, learn to choose their sources, form fact based opinions and become responsible with the content they share online.
The main characteristic of this project is represented by putting in practice their competencies in order to create informative materials on written, audio or video support. The participants will work in international teams and will receive an input on methods and knowledge on journalistic thematic from the facilitators.
Aim and objectives:
The main objectives of the project are:
1. Empowering participants with a set of skills to analyze and validate the information they receive from third parties or encounter online and form opinions based on critical thinking (consistency of information, evaluate existing evidence, cross-check information, question basic assumptions/misconceptions, fact checking websites etc.), on the duration of the mobility.
2. Increasing the skills of the youth participants in expressing themselves in writing and speaking, during the 10 days of the mobility.

Највкусните рецепти почнуваат со „една главица ситно сецкан кромид“ исто како што најубавите изданија на МакеДокс започнуваат кога волонтерите за првпат во август ги отвораат портите на Куршумли ан.

„Волонтерите се љубов во движење“ рекол некој некогаш, а ние можеме да потврдиме дека изминатите 11 години сме добиле неизмерна љубов од преку 400 волонтери кои сите на свој начин придонеле да се гради оваа наша заедничка приказна.

МакеДокс е наша љубов и денес објавуваме отворен повик за сите досегашни и идни волонтери кои имаат време да бидат дел од дванаесеттото издание на фестивалот.

Сите заинтересирани треба да се пријават на [email protected]најдоцна до 30.07. и да ни пишат, зошто сакаат да волонтираат на МакеДокс и кој е нивниот омилен документарен филм. Не е на одмет доколку пишете и што ве интересира; дизајн, палење свеќи, фотографија, шетање гости, сценографија или едноставно филмче на перница под ѕвезди по добро одработен ден.
